We don’t know when you started reading fanfiction, but when we were young, they NEVER mentioned consent, the graphic parts were unrealistic, and queerness was for the heterosexual gaze. As consent culture has improved, so has the quality of fanfiction. Join us (Sex Educator Rae and Data Scientist Makenzie) as we fangirl hard in an academic way about the virtues of modern dirty fanfiction as an educational media. Themes explored will include consent, kink, and queerness. Side quests will include a crash course in current consent language and data science. This panel will discuss adult topics and may not be suitable for fans of all ages.

Makenzie Forster

Makenzie Forster holds Masters' Degrees in both International Peace Studies and Applied Social Data Science. She knows, as a queer person, that reading fanfiction helps us imagine a more accepting world for ourselves.

Rae Szereszewski
